Notice - For Kind Attention of PIO Card Holders
It is informed that Bureau of Immigration (BoI), Government of India, will continue to accept handwritten travel document/PIO Cards as valid travel documents along with valid foreign passport only till 31 December 2025. This extension of the timeline is subject to the condition that if in the meantime, any deadline is notified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), thereby making PIO cards invalid, then PIO cardholders may have to obtain appropriate visa from the Consulate.
It is, therefore, requested that all PIO Cardholders should apply for conversion of their PIO Card to OCI Card at the earliest on the OCI Services portal: https://ociservices.gov.in/onlineOCI/
To convert PIO to OCI card, applicants have to register themselves on the OCI services portal and then login with their registered credentials. After login, they will get options from the dropdown menu. They can select the option ‘OCI Registration in lieu of PIO Card’ to convert PIO to OCI card. After submission of the application online, applicant should visit the Consulate with the relevant documents.
