Mr. Charanjeet Singh Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to Conference on Disarmament

Mr. Charanjeet Singh holds an M.Sc. Degree in Physics. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1996.

His first overseas assignment was in Moscow (1998-1999) as Third Secretary where he learnt Russian Language at the Moscow State University. He then served as Second/First Secretary in the Indian Mission in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) during 2000-2004 followed by a three-year stint as Consul General in Vladivostok (Russia).

He served in New Delhi (2007-2016), as Deputy Secretary/Director & Joint Secretary in the Multilateral Economic Relations (MER) Division, where he looked after India’s engagement with multilateral fora including G-20, BRICS, IBSA, IORA, BIMSTEC, ASEAN, ASEM, WIPO, WTO, OECD, etc.

In January 2016, he went to Milan (Italy) as Consul General and served there till September, 2018.

He moved to London as the Deputy High Commissioner of India and served there till November 2021. 

He served as Joint Secretary/ Additional Secretary at headquarters from April 2022 to November 2025.

He joined as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva in November 2025.

Mr. Singh speaks English, Hindi, Punjabi and Russian.
