RIGHT OF REPLY BY INDIA UNDER AGENDA ITEM 8: GENERAL DEBATE ON THE FOLLOW-UP TO AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE VIENNA DECLARATION AND PROGRAM OF ACTION AT THE 61ST  SESSION OF HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL (23 FEBRUARY - 31ST MARCH, 2026), DELIVERED BY

SUDHEER K.J., FIRST SECRETARY AND LEGAL ADVISOR PERMANENT MISSION OF INDIA TO THE UN

GENEVA, 24 MARCH 2026.

Mr. Vice President, thank you for giving the floor again.

India condemns and rejects, in the strongest terms, the baseless and politically motivated allegations made by Pakistan today. A country with a documented history of sponsoring cross border terrorism, systemic discrimination against its own minorities, and persistent disregard for human rights is in no position to lecture others.

Mr Vice President,

Pakistan’s continued attempts to misrepresent the situation in Jammu and Kashmir   are a transparent diversion   from its own dismal human rights record. The international community is well aware of the grave violations   occurring in Pakistan occupied territories, including Baloochistan, as well as the widespread repression of ethnic and religious minorities within Pakistan itself.

Mr. Vice president,

I would like to reaffirm that   Jammu and Kashmir is, and will always   remain, an integral and inalienable part of India.

Instead of peddling falsehoods, Pakistan would do well to address the rampant terrorism emanating from its territory, dismantle the infrastructure of extremism it has nurtured for decades   and ensure the rights and freedoms of its own citizens.

Mr. Vice president,

India remains committed to the promotion and protection of human rights for all, in accordance with its Constitution and international obligations.

I thank you Mr Vice President.
