Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcomes of Maldives at the 61st Session of Human Rights Council (23 February – 31 March 2026), Permanent Mission of India,  Geneva, 23 March 2026

Mr. President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Maldives for the adoption of the UPR Working Group’s report on its 4th UPR, held on 5 November 2025.

2. The review saw substantive participation with 104 delegations taking the floor and making a total of 283 recommendations. We appreciate the constructive engagement of the delegation of Maldives during the entire review, which reflects their commitment to the UPR process.

3.​ India appreciates that as many as 224 recommendations have been accepted by Maldives, including both recommendations made by us.

4.​ While recommending the adoption of their UPR report, we congratulate the delegation of Maldives on a successful review and wish them success in their efforts towards implementing the accepted recommendations.
