Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcomes of Bulgaria at the 61st Session of Human Rights Council (23 February – 31 March 2026), delivered by Mr. Gaurav Kumar Thakur, Counsellor, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 19 March 2026

Mr. President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Bulgaria for the adoption of the UPR Working Group’s report on its 4th UPR, held on 6 November 2025.

  1. ​ The review saw substantive participation with 88 delegations taking the floor and making a total of 256 recommendations. We appreciate the constructive engagement of the delegation of Bulgaria during the entire review, which reflects their commitment to the UPR process.

3.​ India also appreciates that as many as 193 recommendations have been accepted by Bulgaria, including both recommendations made by us.

4.​ While recommending the adoption of their UPR report, we congratulate the delegation of Bulgaria on a successful review and wish them success in their efforts towards implementing the accepted recommendations.
