Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcomes of Marshall Islands at the 61st Session of Human Rights Council (23 February - 2 April 2026), delivered by Mr. Sudheer K.J. First Secretary (Legal), Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 19 March 2026
Mr. President,
India warmly welcomes the delegation of Marshal Islands for the adoption of the report of the Working Group on its 4th cycle of the Universal Periodic Review held on 10 November 2025.
2. The review saw substantive and constructive participation with 78 delegations taking the floor and making a total of 223 recommendations. We appreciate the constructive engagement of the delegation of Marshall Islands during the entire review, which reflects their commitment to the UPR process.
3. India appreciates that as many as 213 recommendations have been accepted by Marshall Islands, including all three recommendations made by us.
4. While recommending the adoption of their UPR report, we congratulate the delegation of Marshall Islands on a successful review and wish them success in their efforts for implementing the accepted recommendations.
