Statement by India under Agenda Item 6: Adoption of UPR Outcomes of Malawi at the 61st Session of Human Rights Council (23 February – 31 March 2026), delivered by Ms. Anupama Singh, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India,

Mr. President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Malawi for the adoption of the UPR Working Group’s report on its 4th UPR, held on 4 November 2025.

2. The review saw substantive participation with 108 delegations taking the floor and making a total of 294 recommendations. We appreciate the constructive engagement of the delegation of Malawi during the entire review, which reflects their commitment to the UPR process.

3.​ India appreciates that as many as 228 recommendations have been accepted by Malawi, including both recommendations made by India. 

4.​ While recommending the adoption of their UPR report, we congratulate the delegation of Malawi on a successful review and wish them success in their efforts towards implementation of the accepted recommendations.
