Madam Vice President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Honduras and thanks them for the presentation of their national report.

  1. 2.We appreciate the steps taken by Honduras towards the promotion and protection of human rights, such as the establishment of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs to combat discrimination and violence against women, and the adoption of the Act for the Prevention of Internal Displacement and the Protection and Care of Internally Displaced Persons.
  1. 3.In the spirit of constructive engagement, we recommend the following to Honduras:

One, strengthen efforts to improve accessibility and quality of health services especially in rural and remote areas and for disadvantaged groups;

Two, redouble efforts to eradicate poverty and food insecurity, particularly in rural and coastal areas, by expanding universal social security coverage;

And three, continue efforts to reduce high rates of unemployment and underemployment among disadvantaged groups, including by strengthening their access to technical and vocational training opportunities.

  1. 4.We wish Honduras a successful UPR review.

Thank you.
