Mr. President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Belarus and thanks them for the presentation of their national report.

  1. We appreciate the constitutional amendments adopted following the 2022 national referendum, which introduced additional guarantees for vulnerable categories of citizens, including older persons, persons with disabilities, children, and youth. We also note the introduction of the constitutional complaint procedure in the national legal system, which ensures direct access for citizens to constitutional justice.
  1. In the spirit of constructive engagement, we recommend the following to Belarus:

One, continue efforts to ensure gender equality in access to technical and vocational education and training;

Two, continue efforts to combat human trafficking and labour exploitation through strengthened enforcement of anti-trafficking legislation;

And three, adopt a comprehensive intersectoral strategy for the prevention, identification, and response to all forms of violence against children, with a particular focus on sexual violence.

  1. We wish Belarus a successful UPR review.

Thank you.
