India takes note of the report of the SR on the situation of human rights in Cambodia.
India and Cambodia enjoy warm and cordial relations. As a longstanding development partner, India has extended assistance to Cambodia in various socio-economic sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, women’s empowerment, capacity building, sanitation, environment, and information technology. We remain committed to supporting Cambodia in its efforts towards sustainable and inclusive development.

India firmly believes that strengthening national capacities through technical assistance and capacity-building – undertaken in consultation with, and with the consent of, the State concerned – is a constructive means to advance the promotion and protection of human rights on the ground.
We appreciate the continue cooperation of the Government of Cambodia with the Office of the High Commissioner and commend its engagement with the UN human rights mechanisms, including the SRs and treaty bodies. We note positively Cambodia’s ratification of core human rights treaties and its ongoing efforts towards establishing a National Human Rights Institution, in line with international standards.
