Statement by India at the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group 51st Session (19-30 Jan 2026): 04th UPR of Saint Kitts and Nevis– Interactive Dialogue delivered by Ms. Anupama Singh, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 27 Jan 2026

Mr. President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Saint Kitts and Nevis and thanks the delegation for presenting its National Report. India appreciates the progress made by Saint Kitts and Nevis,  since its last review in 2021.

2. We note with appreciation its ratification of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. We also commend Saint Kitts and Nevis engagement with various human right mechanism as demonstrated by its reporting to various treaty bodies including Convention on Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

3. In the spirit of constructive cooperation, India makes the following recommendations to Saint Kitts and Nevis:

  1. a) continue to work towards advancement and empowerment of women, as well as combating gender-based violence;
  2. b) continue to take measures to strengthen the legal framework for the  promotion and protection of the rights of children;
  3. c) continue to enhance measures for protection and empowerment of persons with disabilities.

4. We wish the delegation of Saint Kitts and Nevis all success in its review.
