Statement by India during the 4th Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Georgia at the 51st Session of UPR Working Group (19-30 Jan 2026) delivered by Mr. G. Harishankar, Third Secretary, Permanent Mission of India,

Geneva, 26 Jan 2026

Thank you, Mr. Vice President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Georgia and thanks them for the presentation of their national report.

We appreciate Georgia's approval of the National Strategy for the Protection of Human Rights for 2022–2030 and the subsequent Human Rights Action Plan for 2024–2026. We also note with appreciation the establishment of the independent Anti-Corruption Bureau, and the adoption of the new Law on Personal Data Protection.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, we recommend the following to Georgia:

One, take measures to combat child labour, especially in agriculture and the informal sector.

Two, intensify efforts to reduce infant and neonatal mortality rates and expand preventive healthcare services.

And three, redouble efforts to improve access to support and social protection measures for persons with disabilities, especially in rural and remote areas.

We wish the delegation of Georgia all success.

Thank you.
