Statement by India during the 4th Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Saint Lucia at the 51st Session of UPR Working Group, delivered by Sudheer K.J., First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India Geneva, 22 January 2026

Mr. Vice President,

India warmly welcomes the delegation of Saint Lucia and thanks them for their presentation.

  1. We appreciate Saint Lucia for taking various policy measures towards promoting children’s health with the adoption of Child and Adolescent Health Programme; enactment of new Domestic Violence Act of 2022 and the recent announcement of national disability policy and establishment of disability unit within the Nodal Ministry.
  1. In the spirit of constructive cooperation, India recommends the following to Saint Lucia:
  1. Consider establishing a National Human Right Body in accordance with the Paris Principles;
  2. Consider acceding to the major human rights treaties including ICCPR and ICESCR
  3.  Continue to work towards realization of right to education of all children
  1. We wish the delegation of Saint Lucia all the success in its UPR review.
