Statement by India at the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group 51st Session (19-30 Jan 2026): 04th UPR of the Federated States of Micronesia– Interactive Dialogue delivered by Ms. Anupama Singh, First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 19 Jan 2026

Mr. President, 

India warmly welcomes the delegation of the Federated States of Micronesia and thanks the delegation for presenting its National Report. The report highlights the efforts and progress made by Micronesia in last five years, towards promotion and protection of human rights. We commend Micronesia for its efforts despite resource constraints.

  1. We commend the adoption of the Strategic Development Plan for the period 2024-2043, reflecting its strong commitment to human rights within its cultural and environmental context, and hope that it would lead to realization of the right to development in Micronesia.
  2. In the spirit of constructive cooperation, India makes the following recommendations to the Federated States of Micronesia:

(i) continue to work towards promoting gender equality and ensuring the effective protection of women’s rights;

(ii) Further strengthen institutional frameworks for the promotion and protection of the rights of the child;

  1. We wish the delegation of the Federated States of Micronesia all success in its review.
