Mr. President,

  1. We take note of the Report of the Special Rapporteur.
  2. India’s vibrant and independent judiciary remains a cornerstone of our democratic polity. Globally acknowledged for its transparency and objectivity, the Indian judiciary has played a pivotal role in safeguarding the human rights of our citizens, including economic, social, and cultural rights, through landmark judgments and progressive interpretations.
  3. To enhance efficiency and access to justice, the judiciary has embraced a range of ICT initiatives, such as hybrid hearings, electronic access to judgments, and translation of judgments into regional languages. Supreme Court of India has deployed artificial intelligence and machine learning based tools in case management.
  4. Indian judiciary actively promotes Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, fostering timely and amicable resolution of disputes.
  5. In a notable step towards gender justice, the Supreme Court has published a Handbook on Combating Gender Stereotypes, reaffirming its commitment to equality and inclusivity.

Mr. President,

  1. India remains committed to strengthening our judicial institutions and upholding the rule of law in service of all our citizens.

Thank you
