Thank you, Mr. Vice president.

India is honored to speak on behalf of a Group of Like-Minded Countries. Complete list will be posted on extranet.

We welcome the Special Rapporteur’s report highlighting that climate change is a severe assault on the poor, with droughts, floods, and extreme weather disproportionately affecting those least responsible for global emissions. Climate change and poverty are deeply interconnected; extreme weather threatens to reverse development gains and pushes families in vulnerable situation back into poverty, especially in developing countries.

Developing nations face a double injustice: minimal contribution to climate change, yet suffering its harshest impacts. To address this, we call for enhanced, predictable, and accessible climate finance, focused on adaptation and resilience for the most vulnerable. Developed countries must fulfill their historical commitments under Common but Differentiated Responsibilities (CBDR).

International solidarity and social protection are essential to break the cycle of poverty and climate crisis. Climate finance must reach local communities and smallholder farmers, who currently receive less than 10% of available resources. We urge the global community to honor pledges, fund social protection floors, and channel support to those most in need. Together, we can ensure a just, resilient future for all.

Thank you.
