Mr. President,

We thank the Secretary General for his synthesis report and note the recommendations made therein.

  1. As also highlighted in the report, equity and climate justice must form the foundation of all just transition efforts. The principle of common but differentiated responsibilities remains central to ensuring that transitions are truly just and equitable. We welcome the report's recognition that developing countries require substantial support through international cooperation, including financing, capacity-building, and technology transfer.
  2. India has demonstrated leadership in climate action while prioritizing the development and well-being of our people. We are proud to share that India has achieved 50 percent of its installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources, five years ahead of its 2030 target under the Paris Agreement. This milestone is a demonstration of our commitment to clean energy, and of how the right policies, investment, and innovation can accelerate transition while respecting the right to development, ensuring that no one is left behind.
  3. India has also been at the forefront of supporting action-oriented steps at the global level in response to climate change, with initiatives such as International Solar Alliance (ISA), Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), LeadIT, Infrastructure for Resilient Island States (IRIS) and the Global Biofuel Alliance.
  4. We reaffirm our commitment to working collectively towards a greener, cleaner, and healthier planet, guided by the principles of equity and justice.

Thank you.
