Intervention by India at the 49th session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group (28 April-9 May 2025): 4th UPR of Kuwait, delivered by Mr. Gaurav Kumar Thakur, Counsellor, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 7 May 2025

Mr. President,

India welcomes the delegation of Kuwait.

2. We appreciate Kuwait’s submission of fourth national progress report on BDPA, steps taken to combat trafficking in persons and migrant smuggling, steps taken for promotion and protection of human rights, steps to control domestic violence and to promote child protection, setting up of National Environment Strategy 2035, progress made on promoting Sustainable Development Goals, and digitalization of government services.

3. In a spirit of constructive cooperation, India recommends the following to Kuwait:

One, Continue advancing initiatives that empower women and promote their rights and freedoms across all areas of society.

Two, Continue taking measures to ensure mobility, and decent living conditions for all migrant workers, including domestic labour.

And Three, Continue to take measures to promote the rights of persons with disabilities, including ensuring access to health and education for children with disabilities.
