Geneva, 5 May 2025

Mr. President,

India welcomes the delegation of Sweden.

  1. We welcome the Government's decision to develop a new national action plan to prevent and combat human trafficking. We also appreciate recent legislative changes that strengthen child protection against sexual assault, including measures to address online sexual violations.
  1. In a spirit of constructive cooperation, India recommends the following to Sweden:

One - Continue advancing policies that promote the inclusion of children and young people in society, with a focus on preventing youth radicalisation.

Two - Enhance multisectoral coordination to provide comprehensive support services for children who are victims of violence.

Three - Take appropriate steps to ensure that cultural misrepresentation does not lead to family separations or children being put in foster care, particularly among the immigrant families.

And Four - Take steps to secure traditional livelihoods of Sami community and their meaningful participation in the adoption of measures under the Climate Change Policy Action Plan.

We wish Sweden a successful UPR review.

Thank you.
