Intervention by India at the 49th session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group (28 April-9 May 2025): 4th UPR of Sweden, delivered by Mr. Kshitij Tyagi, Counsellor, Permanent Mission of India,

Mr. President,
India welcomes the delegation of Sweden.
- We welcome the Government's decision to develop a new national action plan to prevent and combat human trafficking. We also appreciate recent legislative changes that strengthen child protection against sexual assault, including measures to address online sexual violations.
- In a spirit of constructive cooperation, India recommends the following to Sweden:
One - Continue advancing policies that promote the inclusion of children and young people in society, with a focus on preventing youth radicalisation.
Two - Enhance multisectoral coordination to provide comprehensive support services for children who are victims of violence.
Three - Take appropriate steps to ensure that cultural misrepresentation does not lead to family separations or children being put in foster care, particularly among the immigrant families.
And Four - Take steps to secure traditional livelihoods of Sami community and their meaningful participation in the adoption of measures under the Climate Change Policy Action Plan.
We wish Sweden a successful UPR review.
