Statement by India at the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group 49th Session (28 April 2025 - 09 May 2025): Fourth UPR of Kenya - Interactive Dialogue, delivered by Mr. Mohammed Hussain K.S., Counsellor & Legal Adviser, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva, 1 May 2025

Mr.  President,

  We welcome the delegation of Kenya. We appreciate Kenya for its significant strides in advancing human rights through international commitments and national reforms. We take note with interest that Kenya has embraced digitalization to enhance public service delivery and access to information with 17,000 services are available on the E-Citizen platform.

  1. In the spirit of constructive dialogue, India recommends the following to Kenya:

    a) To further strengthen its efforts to combat trafficking in persons, especially children;

    b) Further improve access to comprehensive health services, including maternal health services; and

    c) Effective enforcement of the relevant legislation to address child marriage.

  1. We wish Kenya all success.

    Thank you, Mr. President.
