Mandatory to register on Study in India (SII) portal to obtain e-Student Visa

Government of India has launched Study in India Programme to provide easy access to the international students to study in the best institutions in India. Under the programme, premier educational institutions of India offer opportunity for eligible foreign students to study in India in various disciplines. A centralized admission portal (www.studyinindia.gov.in) has been launched for the purpose.

2. Study in India (SII) portal is a one-stop platform for international students, facilitating application submission, admission processes, and visa applications for those seeking to pursue regular, short-term, or long-term courses in Indian academic institutions or Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs).

3. All foreign students who wish to study in India, will now have to mandatorily register on the SII portal and submit the required information on the portal. Upon registration, the portal generates a unique ID or ‘SII-ID’ which will be quoted on the student visa application.

4. Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has recently launched the e-Student Visa, enabling application of student visa using their SII-ID via the Indian Visa Portal. To obtain e-Student Visa it is important that all incoming foreign students mandatorily register themselves on SII Portal.
